From the self-distanced, poorly sound-proofed home studio of Charlie Christmas comes these new lockdown rave-ups of The Beach Boys (”Wild Honey”), CSNY (“Our House”), Yazoo (“Only You”), Hank Williams (“I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry”) and Bachman Turner Overdrive (“You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet”).
Charlie’s rascally son, Young Jimmy Christmas, suggested turning these beloved popular tunes into an EP of hand-crafted, thoroughly re-jiggered family heirlooms, and it’s Young Jimmy—gifted with the voice of a delinquent angel—who handles most of the lead vocals, with Jimmy and Charlie making use of their chromosomally adjacent larynxes to blend in harmonies. Young Jimmy provided crucial percussion via slap-happy cajon and well-timed cowbell, while Papa Charlie broke an unsightly sweat playing everything else. Mixed and mastered right there in the garage among the empty bottles, dirty laundry and visions of glory, the genetically-determined results are now available for your listening pleasure.
